Nina Hagen veröffentlicht Song mit George Clinton – als Hommage an die BLM-Bewegung

Nina Hagen meldet sich mit einem neuen Song zurück. Auf Unity hat sie Funk-Legende George Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic sowie Tequila Mockingbirds als Gaststars mit an Bord – und zollt der Black-Lives-Matter-Bewegung Tribut.

Neuer Song Unity

Es ist eine Weile her, dass wir von Nina Hagen etwas gehört haben. Ihr letztes Album Volksbeat erschien 2011. Nun meldet sich die 65-Jährige mit dem Stück Unity zurück, das als Reaktion auf die Ermordung von George Floyd geschrieben wurde. Hagens neuer Song ist ein waschechter Dub mit jeder Menge positiven Vibes – und einem via Telefon zugeschalteten George Clinton. „Let’s enjoy the unity in our community / There is no room for negativity / Positive vibrations / Surround the world’s nations“, singt Hagen in dem Stück. „Ey Nina, this is George calling“, hört man Clintons Telefonstimme wenig später.

Nina Hagens Statement zum Song

„Unity wurde unmittelbar nach dem unglaublich feigen und brutalen Mord an George Floyd geschaffen”, erklärte die Musikerin in einem Statement – und bezeichnete das Stück als „[ein] Lied über den unzerstörbaren Traum der Nächstenliebe. Von der Sehnsucht nach menschlichen Werten, nach sozialer Einheit und Gerechtigkeit“.

Hagen weiter: „Es erinnerte uns daran, dass Schweigen eine Komplizenschaft ist und dass Schweigen keine Option ist! Ich zitiere unsere Schwester Coretta Scott King: ‘Der Kampf ist ein endloser Prozess. Freiheit wird nie wirklich gewonnen, man verdient sie und gewinnt sie in jeder Generation’“.

Zweiter Teil mit Dennis Kucinich

Auf ihren sozialen Netzwerken kündigte Hagen außerdem einen zweiten Teil des Songs an – mit dem US-amerikanischen Politiker Dennis Kucinich als Featuring-Gast. Ein neues Album der Punk-Ikone soll demnächst ebenfalls erscheinen.
