The Cure Listen

Digging Deep
From their earliest beginnings as a Punk band through to their Goth period and ever since The Cure have been one of the most popular alternative bands in the world. The Robert Smith-led group has inspired many and proved to be a consistent studio and live act, charting all 13 studio albums from a career spanning four decades. The Cure first began releasing music in the late 1970s with their debut album Three Imaginary Boys. Their second single, "Boys Don't Cry", became a hit; this, along with several early singles, placed the band as part of the post-punk and new wave movements that had sprung up in the wake of the punk rock revolution in the United Kingdom. During the early 1980s, the band's increasingly dark and tormented music helped form the gothic rock genre.
